Dear Sangat Ji,
This meditation was given by Yogi Bhajan on the 26st of July 1976 at UCLA in the USA.
40 repetitions of the mantra “Vahe Guru” on one breath for 11 minutes, eyes closed. That is 920 repetitions of the mantra in this specific arrangement.
“When you can chant 40 times without discomfort, your lung capacity, breath and heartbeat’s control will increase beyond belief.
The rhythm will produce “Mitna”, a word that define the intercourse between the Finite and the Infinite.”
Best practiced at the end of a kriya as your lungs are active.
Chant as many repetitions as you can. If you find yourself out of breath before the end of the sequence, take a short in-breath to continue finishing until the 40th repetition.
Your lungs will gradually build in capacity until you reach the 40th repetition without discomfort.
To succeed, apply a controlled Mahabandh to avoid any Prana and air leak during the exhale. Keep your abdominal belt under control (not loose) as you inhale.
Once the breath of this meditation is mastered, a specific mudra could be applied.
At the end of the meditation, inhale deep, hold, Mahabandh, exhale fully, hold, Mahabandh. Inhale, exhale and relax.
As always, tune in an out before any Kundalini Yoga practice.
